About Me
Tannu Jain is an Indian journalist reporting on science and climate change, exploring how environmental crises ripple through policy, politics, and everyday life. Born and raised in New Delhi and now based in New York, she has spent nearly a decade at Hindustan Times and The Indian Express, shaping editorial coverage while reporting on science and public health. Her work has also appeared in DNA, and she has previously worked with NDTV 24X7.
Since 2022, she has written Cause and Effect, a weekly column examining the intersections of climate change with politics, policy, human rights, misinformation, business, culture, and extreme weather. In 2024, she received a Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting Grant to report from the Lakshadweep Islands, documenting the impact of marine heatwaves on coral ecosystems and indigenous communities. The series, published in Hindustan Times, contributed to policy reconsiderations and won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism.
She is currently pursuing an MA in Science Journalism at Columbia University, focusing on climate reporting and long-form storytelling, and is a 2026 FASPE fellow. She is a graduate of the Asian College of Journalism.
